Natural Fleas & Ticks Prevention
May 9, 2007 |
Fleas and ticks problems can be an annoying experience for most pet owners who have gone thru the ordeal of having to clear up the problems on their pets and also to deal with infestation in the household. I have been there before. I literally saw fleas/ticks and even tiny baby ones that crawls around my home. I was disgusted yet at wits end on what I should do with these pests.
I literally picked and picked from the walls, floors and of course on my dogs until they are all gone. I was on high gear in search of a permanent solution for my pets as I do not want the same thing happening again.
At that time, I was desperate and used frontline on them to get rid of the pests fast. I used it for about 3 months and when they have cleared up the pests, I stopped using frontline as I know that long term usage of “insecticide” on my pet will deteriorate their immune system over time. I eventually found a solution and a very simple one…. BOOSTING their IMMUNE SYSTEM!
It’s really that simple. I have been reading alot on natural health and when I learnt that boosting their immune system is one way of getting rid of fleas and ticks naturally, i started immediately boosting their immune system. Since the ordeal of fleas and ticks infestation at home, I ensured that have optimal health thru natural diet and supplements. Today, fleas and ticks is no longer a problem for my dogs. My neighbours would complain of fleas and ticks problem in the same park i walk my dogs daily but my dogs stay clear of this annoying problem for many years now.
So try it, you never know if it’d work for you until you try! In any case, if your pet already have a situation at hand, address it quickly with conventional means first and also kick start boosting your pet immune system TODAY!
While getting their immune system boosted, get some natural flea spray from your local pet store (e.g. those that contain neem oil or lemon grass oil) and spray on your pet’s paws, tummy and back region before their walks. Today, I am no longer using any fleas and ticks preventive measures today (including the natural sprays). However, my advice to any starters for this method that while in the process of boosting your pets’ immune system, I highly recommend you still use some means of control to avoid repeating the ordeal again until you know your pet’s health is in tip top condition!
My last tip to natural prevention of fleas and tips is by adding garlic to their food. Add 1 clove per every 10 pounds of body weight. Take note not to add too much as garlic can cause anemia. Also, it is adviced to stop feeding garlic a few days before any operation that your pet needs to undergo. (Take note that garlic should not be given to CATS if you have thoughts on this right now for your kitty.)
Lastly, I would like to remind all readers that if fleas and ticks is a real issue right now, use conventional treatments with advice from the vet and complement with good diet and supplements to boost their immune system. This is one quick way on the road towards “Parasites Free” days for your pets.
